Sarah Silverman Reveals Why She’ll Never Get Married: Comedienne Rejects News That She’s Engaged To Boyfriend Michael Sheen

Sounds like there won't be any wedding bells in Sarah Silverman's future. The comedienne recently refuted claims that she is getting married to boyfriend Michael Sheen, instead insisting that she will never tie the knot.

But why is Silverman so against the idea of marriage?

"Just read that I wanna get married which is hilarious b/c I will never get married," wrote Silverman on Twitter.

The actress was writing in response to an article about her in Star magazine titled "Sarah Wants A Ring."

Fighting back against the claim that she is pushing actor boyfriend Michael Sheen to get hitched, Silverman continued, "Why would I want the govt involved in my love life? Ew. It's barbaric. That s--t never bothers me b/c who cares but I feel like this one is bigoted. The Jew girl MUST want a RING! Yich."

Silverman has previously vowed that she would never get married. In the April 2010 issue of Playboy, the comic opened up about her desire to forgo the tradition.

"It's just not for me," said Silverman. "I'm a vegetarian, but I don't have a problem if you want a hamburger. Marriage, to me, is like eating meat. I think it's gross and f--king crazy. It's this superbarbaric, old-timey tradition that no one remembers we don't have to do anymore."

Silverman did not rule out the importance of relationships however. "I really do believe in love. I've experienced it, I've had it, so I know it's real," she told the magazine.

Nevertheless, Silverman, who formerly dated late night TV host Jimmy Kimmel, does not stand by the idea that love is always a fairytale.

"Sometimes loving each other isn't enough," explained Silverman. "You have to be responsible for your own happiness. You can't stay in a relationship because you're afraid of the unknown."
