Elle Fanning Goes Brunette! ‘Boxtrolls’ Actress Trades Blonde Locks For Darker Look

While many actresses are dying their hair platinum blonde these days, Elle Fanning has decided to march to the beat of her own drummer.

The 16-year-old actress debuted her newly brunette locks at the premiere of "Boxtrolls" on Sunday at Universal City walk.

The actress, who is somewhat known for her signature light blonde hair, opted for a sleek look at the premiere. She wore flared black Oscar de la Renta trousers and a black strapless peplum top.

Fanning has become a fashion star as her acting career blossomed. The freshly brunette actress recently discussed her personal style with Seventeen magazine.

"For my own style, I love vintage. 60's and 70's are my favorite," she told the mag. "I love baby doll dresses and the soft colors. I try to mix a little bit of modern into that - maybe I'll wear it with boots. At my school we wear a uniform, but we have one day a week we can wear whatever we want."

Further explaining her look, she added, "I take a lot of risks. I like to stand out and look unique."

Fanning also revealed another brunette who she looks up to as a fashion inspiration.

"I love Alexa Chung. I like how she dresses young for her age," said Fanning. "I'd much rather dress like a 5 year old than a 21 year old. I'd much rather wear a puffy sleeved shirt than some low-cut top."

When the teenage starlet was asked if she ever regretted something she has worn, Fanning admitted that she typically feels comfortable in her clothes.

"There hasn't been anything I've worn that I'm like, 'Ugh. I hate that trend!' I don't really follow trends that much, but I always try to stay in the know. If there's a trend, I try to make it my own," she said.
