Walking Dead Season 5 Spoilers, Photos, Release Date, Air Date, Premier Date, And Trailer: Andrew Lincoln Teases "Brutal" 5th Season

Walking Dead" Season 5 is currently filming, here are all the juicy details and spoilers.

The official trailer has just been released, you can watch it below. Along with the trailer the productin team released an official synopsis, "Season Four of The Walking Dead ended with Rick and the group outgunned, outnumbered, and trapped in a train car awaiting a grim fate.

Season Five picks up shortly thereafter. What follows is a story that weaves the true motives of the people of Terminus with the hopeful prospect of a cure in Washington, D.C., the fate of the group's lost comrades, as well as new locales, new conflicts, and new obstacles in keeping the group together and staying alive.

Stories will break apart and intersect. The characters will find love and hate. Peace and conflict. Contentment and terror. And, in the quest to find a permanent, safe place to call home, one question will haunt them...

After all they've seen, all they've done, all they've sacrificed, lost, and held on to no matter what the cost...

Who do they become?"

Episode one will involve breaking out of Terminus, but producers have teased  "a very special surprise at the end." In SFX's November issue seems to agree that episode one will end with a reunion given the info they've shared about episode two.

"A young African American man wearing the white collar and black shirt. From out of the forest tears what at first looks like a platoon of infantrymen. But as the brush clears, their faces grow familiar- Rick, his son Carl, Daryl, Maggie, Glenn, Michonne, Carol. In a heartbeat, they envelop the walkers, Rick grabs one, slams its head against the boulder, and throws it to the ground. Carol drives her knife through the skull of another. Michonne hits hers twice in the back of its head with the butt of a rifle, then a third time after it drops. The threat eliminated, Glenn shouts 'are we good?'. After scanning for more walkers Rick replies 'Yeah'. He looks up at the terrified man and offers him his hand."

Movie Pilot speculates, "So breaking it down, in episode 2 we can expect:

  • An introduction to Father Gabriel
  • Carol being reunited with the group (no mention of Tyreese and Judith, though they could just be holed up somewhere with Tara, Sasha, Bob, Abraham, Eugene and Rosita)
  • The group moving through the forest
  • Michonne getting her rifle (I hope she still keeps the katana though...)
  • Rick extending a hand of friendship to Father Gabriel"

"Wow, he's trapped in a box, so I think he's probably pretty feral at the moment," Reedus said whileshooting his EW Walking Dead cover. "He's probably a little scared which makes him a little more feral." So there you have it. A feral Daryl.

"He's changed a lot of ways since season 1," says Reedus. "In season 1 he had such a chip on his shoulder and didn't think people trusted him and he didn't trust other people. Everything just kind of came out of the side of his head. This season he's very much in your face and his shoulders are square to you and he means what he says. He'll look you in the face. People rely on him now and I think before he thought people would cross the street if he was walking toward you. Now he's an integral part of the group. People trust him and I think he's accepted that trust."

Andrew Lincoln told Entertainment Weekly , "You stand alongside Rick, you're family. You stand in opposition to him, you're a problem."

"Because their leader is incredibly uncompromising, I think he is dragging a lot of those people into a place that is darker, more brutal, and there will be fallout from that," he explains.

"So it feels like it's a more grown-up show. It feels like we're heading into the heart of darkness. Brutal is the word for this season. It's always been pretty intense, but this season I think is very hard hitting. People should be prepared for that, I think."

According to TVLine, Season 5, Episode 1 is called "No Sanctuary." If you didn't watch or don't remember the final episode, the gang had spent most of last season trying to find sanctuary in terminus only to be locked in a box car. So, clearly, Terminus isn't all its cracked up to be.

Want more hints that Terminus is pretty much the worst sanctuary ever? Rick threatens to kill Terminus leader Gareth in this sneak peek as Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun) and Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) are bound and gagged.

As comic book creator Robert Kirkman recently explained, "By minute two or three of our season premiere, I think the vast majority of our questions have been answered." But in true TWD fashion, it's not that simple. He continued, "and five or six more [will] have been presented, so you're very much going to be invested, well-informed, and ready for the ride that we're going to take you on."

Lauren Cohan - who plays Maggie Greene, told the Fan Expo Canada crowd Season 5 will be huge in terms of character changes.

"There's probably a lot of people who do read the comics and I think that you can all appreciate that the show does divert from the comics. [Sometimes the writers give one person's fate in the books to someone else on TV] ... But yeah, I mean there's definitely a lot in store for all of us. It's interesting when people say 'Oh your character's changed a lot from year to year.' I think this season there's been more monumental change for most of us."

Movieweb reports AMC has ordered a spinoff series for "The Walking Dead." Showrunners Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert are executive producers.

The spinoff will reportedly be a companion TV series to address fans' curiosity on "what is going on in the zombie apocalypse in other parts of the world," according to AMC president Charlie Collier. Robert Kirkman, likewise, claimed it would provide light to "many corners of "The Walking Dead" universe that remain unseen in the shadows."

The pilot episode of the spinoff will reportedly be in production in 2014. However, no cast and location details have been provided yet.

Season 5 of "The Walking Dead" begins on AMC on Oct. 12 at 9 p.m.
