According to the Times Leader Online, "Last night, the 7th season of The Voice kicked off. But, let's get one thing straight. Even though this is a singing competition, I would bet that most people tune in to see the judges. That was never more apparent than last night's episode. There of course were a handful of singers shown (along with their too long back story), but the judges stole the spotlight in the 2 hour premiere. And, unlike some other reality competitions that try to be Judge-Centric, this actually works. Gwen Stefani and Pharrell stepped in as new judges this year, while Adam Levine and Blake Shelton remain from all past seasons. Stefani and Pharrell were bursts of energy and definitely provide new judging ideas. When Gwen added a "team member" she even handed out "TEAM GWEN" shirts. Pharrell was no slouch as a coach either. He was surprising in the fact that it was so easy for him to connect with contestants. He was really on point when he tried to actually just "real talk" with the contestants. Not to leave out everyone's favorite bromance----Adam and Blake slid right back into their big red chairs and didn't miss a beat. What the other reality competition shows need to realize, is that the reason this show can focus on judges is because they seem to actually enjoy each others company. Their antics, jabs and jokes work because you feel like you are watching 4 friends hang out while they are watching a singing show. And that is a recipe for success!"
