What should we look forward to for tonight's episode and the rest of Season 12 featuring star Mark Harmon? Warning: spoilers ahead!

According to USA Today, which chooses the series premiere as one of its top picks for Tuesday night viewing, "Television's most popular drama returns with its investigator heroes struggling to escape some mercenary pursuers and get back home from Russia. They'd better move quickly: they have a New Orleans spinoff they need to help launch."

A recent The Daily Beast article praised "NCIS" and lead actor Mark Harmon, explaining, "NCIS, which stands for Naval Criminal Investigative Service, is not only the third-most popular show on TV (just behind Sunday Night Football and The Big Bang Theory), but was recently named the most-watched drama in the world, with more than 57.6 million viewers globally in 2013. The show, which has spawned two spinoffs (the newest, NCIS: New Orleans, also premieres Tuesday), is now "a billion-dollar franchise," as CBS Entertainment Chairman Nina Tassler declared this summer-and Harmon is at the center of it. Those gargantuan figures, both viewers and dollars, make Mark Harmon the world's biggest TV star. Not that you'll ever hear the actor admit that, or say anything else personal about himself. Which is just the way he likes it. Harmon is an anomaly in today's overshare-first-ask-questions-later pop culture: an anti-celeb. There's no gushing about the secrets of his 27-year marriage to Mork & Mindy star Pam Dawber (which is more like 270 in Hollywood years), no off-the-cuff speeches about politics or anything else controversial; no statements, in fact, that aren't in some way related to his show. And his actions speak just as softly as his words: When you search "Mark Harmon" on TMZ, not a single story comes up, which doesn't even seem possible. He's perhaps the only person in Hollywood who says he wants his work to speak for itself, and actually means it."

According to next week's episode synopsis of "NCIS," called "Kill The Messenger," there's plenty of action and drama in the air. TV Guide reports, "A Navy lieutenant is murdered on his way to a private meeting with the President. The NCIS team try to determine if the death was part of a recent series of muggings in the area or if it was a targeted hit to keep intelligence secrets." Episode 2 already looks very entertaining! But we've got more...

On the next episode (Episode 3 of "NCIS" Season 12), "So It Goes," there's even more excitement on "NCIS." In Episode 3, "Ducky returns to London after a case reveals a connection to his estranged childhood best friend. Agent Bishop accompanies him on the trip, and they interview his friend's family and coworkers. Meanwhile, Ducky recalls the choices he made in the past and the impact they've had on his adult life," according to TV Guide.

It will certainly be interesting to see all of this play out! Check out the Season 12 "Twenty Klicks" preview video here:
