Lana Del Rey Announces Cemetery Gigs; 'Summertime Sadness' Singer To Perform Two Shows After Cancelling Europe Tour

Lana Del Rey cemetery gigs have been slated, as "Summertime Sadness" singer to perform two shows after dropping out of her European tour.

The singer, who is known for her dark inclinations, will reportedly perform two shows at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery on October 17 and 18.

The Lana Del Rey cemetery gigs may come off as odd to some but the singer's choice, as suggested by Billboard magazine, was a good call considering the fact that many of the entertainment industry's big players were laid to rest there. An example are Dee Dee Ramone and Johnny Ramone of the legendary rock band The Ramones.

The performances will reportedly be in support of her album "UltraViolence" under Polydor/Interscope records.

Del Rey cancelled all of her scheduled European appearances, as well as a performance at Radio 1 Live Lounge a little over a week ago.

A statement was released on the "Summertime Sadness" singer's website, saying: "For medical reasons independent of our will, the artist has been forced to cancel all promotional activities planned in Europe over the coming days."

The statement added that Del Rey should be well enough to get back on stage early next month.

The singer, in fact, already has a slated performance at the Austin City Limits Music Festival on October 4.

Del Rey released "UltraViolence" in June as a follow-up to her debut record "Born To Die" in 2012.

"UltraViolence" reportedly opened at number one in 15 countries, including the US.

Lana del Rey's cemetery gigs will not be the first performance to be held at such a venue. The Hollywood Forever cemetery reportedly hosts regular events ranging from concerts to literary readings.

In an interview with Los Angeles magazine, Hollywood Forever's executive VP and director of cultural events programming Jay Boileau shared what types of events they accept. "We only do events that fit the atmoshpere of the cemetery," he said. "A concert here presents music that speaks to the beauty of the landscape and the unique frame of mind this space encourages."
