The NRA And Shannon Watts Engage In Battle: 'Moms Demand Action For Gun Sense In America' Leader Kicks Off Campaign To Embrace 'Common Sense' Gun Restrictions [PHOTO]

Shannon Watts, a 43-year-old stay at home mom from Indianapolis, Indiana, is taking a stand against one of the US' most powerful lobbying associations - the National Rifle Association (NRA). Her efforts are praised, as the NRA has recently run an intimidating campaign against Michelle Nunn, a US Senate Democratic candidate and daughter of former US Senator of Georgia, Sam Nunn. Nunn is believed to support gun regulation, and the NRA has in turn launched a $750,000 ad campaign claiming that Nunn will help to enact what they call the Obama Bloomberg extreme gun control agenda.

But will Watts be able to stand up to the test? She believes so. Watts' organization, "Moms Demand Action For Gun Sense," has the support of Mayor Michael Bloomberg and more than 2 million others, and in recent months has been able to convince the CEOs of several major US companies to take a stand against guns in their stores and restaurants. According to the Huffington Post, the group has helped to pass laws in some states that make it harder perpetrators of domestic violence to attain firearms.

Breitbart reports that starting this past Tuesday, Watts' group is embarking on a seven state "road show" for gun control candidates. It will appeal to Statehouses and Congress, announce its endorsements for 110 federal and state candidates for public office, and distribute two television ads meant to persuade voters to embrace "common sense" gun restrictions like expanded background checks.

Stops will be made in California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, and Oregon in the upcoming three weeks. The group will also stop in Seattle, Washington, to help push Initiative 594, which is a gun control initiative funded by wealthy supporters such as Bill Gates, Michael Bloomberg, and Mike Allen.

The NRA has a big head start in promoting gun freedom - this month, it helped to convince Missouri lawmakers to allow school districts to arm teachers without notifying parents, nullify local restrictions to carrying firearms in public, and lower the concealed carry age to 19. It has been revealed that the NRA has been buying Missouri lawmakers lunch: $1,700 worth of food and beverages for the first half of 2014.

Nonetheless, Watts is proud of her organizations' push. "We're tired of a vocal minority of gun extremists making all the laws... It makes our moms feel like badasses to take on the most powerful lobbying organization in the country."
