Apple Pulls iOS 8.0.1 Upgrade After iPhone Users Lost Cellular Connection: Will Release iOS 8.0.2 'In Few Days'

Just last Wednesday, Apple released the iOS 8.0.1 update last Wednesday only to have it removed an hour later.

The iOS 8.01 update aimed to fix the issues that plagued the latest Apple mobile operating system since it arrived last week.

Unfortunately, many users reported problems immediately after downloading the update. The latest OS 8.0.1 upgrade was intended to minimize iPhone owners' data usage when sending SMS and MMS messages, unfortunately this backfired and resulted to many users losing cell service entirely. Some observed that their Touch ID fingerprint reader was no longer working. Although, it was still unclear if this was caused by the iOS 8.0.1 upgrade.

Apple was quick to issue this short statement to acknowledge the issue:

"We apologize for the great inconvenience experienced by users, and are working around the clock to prepare iOS 8.0.2 with a fix for the issue, and will release it as soon as it is ready in the next few days."

The apology is accompanied by instructions on Apple's official support website, telling how affected users can restore their iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus back to iOS 8.0 without losing their content. It offered a step-by-step instruction on how to address the problem by connecting their device to a PC or Mac with iTunes:

Follow these steps to reinstall iOS 8.0.

1) Make sure that you're using the latest version of iTunes.
2) Connect your iPhone to iTunes.
3) Back up your iPhone in iTunes on your Mac or PC. iCloud backups won't restore to earlier versions, including iOS 8.0.
4) Download the file below that corresponds to your device: iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus
5) Select the file you just downloaded by doing one of these in iTunes:
Mac: Press the Option key and click Check for Update.
Windows: Press the Shift key and click Check for Update.
6) Press Update to install iOS 8 on your iPhone.

The iOS 8.0.1 upgrade also aimed to prevent the bug that immediately launch HealthKit apps in the App Store as well as another glitch that barred users from uploading photos and videos from Safari. The update also was set to improve the reliability of the "reachability" feature on the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Reachability makes it easier for users to operate the large phones with one hand.
