Elizabeth McGovern's Band Sadie & The Hotheads To Go On US Tour; Downton Abbey Star Says Coming To See Her Play Live Music Is 'A Slightly Funny Experience For The Fans Of The Show'

Elizabeth McGovern's band Sadie and the Hotheads will reportedly do a US tour for the first time. The "Downton Abbey" star is slated to tour in December with her folk-rock band.

While she plays the role of Cora Crawley, the Countess of Grantham, on "Downton Abbey," Elizabeth McGovern's band role is the lead singer.

In an interview with The Associated Press on Sunday, McGovern spoke about how she thinks it is like for fans of her hit TV series seeing her perform live music. "It's a slightly funny experience for fans of the show to come hear the music because it's such a different world to the show," she said.

"When we first started touring there would be a lot of people carrying 'Downton Abbey' books ... and I could see a look of surprise on their faces because it isn't what you expect. I mean it's not a classical quartet of violins," she added.

She also expressed her thoughts about their US tour's timing, saying" "I think it's coming at the right time since we slowly built experience with each other. I feel like we're more ready than we've ever been ... I go there with more confidence than I would have in the past."

In an interview with the Telegraph earlier this month, McGovern shared how she deals with the fame brought about by her role in "Downton Abbey," in which she earned Golden Globe and Emmy nominations.

"I've been through the fame thing so many times before that I've built up my system to contend with it," she said. "So now, in terms of 'Downton,' I can't honestly say that it has changed my life much at all. I live very much as before, without any kind of fanfare - I barely even have a cleaner! Perhaps if I'd gone into the show at 20, it would be different."

While Sadie and the Hotheads have previously toured Europe, Elizabeth McGovern's band's US tour, which kicks off on December 4 in Washington, will be their first time to hit the American road.
