Kelly Rowland Airs Out Interest To Play Donna Summer For Upcoming 'Spinning Gold In Instagram'; Comments Approved Rowland’s Similarity To The Late Disco Queen

An upcoming biographical film "Spinning Gold" featuring the life of the late Neil Bogart, the founder of Casablanca Records and how he helped launched 1970s icon Donna Summers' singing career is said to be shoot anytime soon. And for that, Kelly Rowland's photo in Instagram grabbed media attention as she posts a picture showing her resemblance to Summers. Spike Lee is said to direct the biopic film, the New York Post reports.

Wearing the familiar curls, light makeup and signature Donna Summer's expression, various news sources speculated that the 33-year old actress is vying for the role.  She then captions the photo '#tbt #DonnaSummer-ish #LovetoLoveYa'.

Donna Summers is considered Queen of Disco in the late 1970s and has sold over 130 million records including her most popular songs "Love to Love YoSu Baby", "Hot Stuff", "I Feel Love" and "On the Radio" among others with the help of Neil Bogart who established Casablanca in 1973. Aside from the Disco Queen, Bogart had also helped promote KISS band who dedicated their album "Creatures of the Night" to the late vinyl records producer.

Justin Timberlake has already signed up to play Neil Bogart in the film.

Meanwhile, commenters in Daily Mail have agreed that the former Destiny's Child member has what it takes to play Donna Summers.

"Blimey! They could be twins!"

"Since Kelly Rowland first emerged on the scene, I've always thought she'd make the perfect Donna Summer in a movie. Please let it happen finally."

"This is Donna Summer, period!"

Recent pictures of the RnB singer also include her growing baby bump and how she and manager Tim Witherspoon are excited to have a baby in the next few months.

In a recent interview  with FOX411 in July, the songstress talked about her pregnancy and the baby's gender.

"We're very excited. So far, everything has been good. I just feel like the baby is already [spoiled] rotten-like literally, my Caress family has gotten him all of his little bathing stuff, his toys. It's just so cool."
