Sean Penn And Charlize Theron Film In South Africa! Penn Directs Girlfriend In Upcoming Project ‘The Last Face’

Charlize Theron and Sean Penn have taken their love to South Africa!

The couple has reportedly begun filming "The Last Face," a drama that Penn will direct starring his ladylove. The production, which is currently being filmed in Cape Town, South Africa, Theron's home country.

According to E! News, Theron and Penn were spotted filming on a bustling street in the South African city over the weekend. Penn, a critically acclaimed director, worked behind the camera while Academy Award winner Theron showed off her acting skills.

Theron, who is also known as the gorgeous face of Dior, worked through the scene in very light makeup and a casual blue knit top.

"The Last Face" also stars Javier Bardem and "Blue Is The Warmest Color" actress Adèle Exarchopoulos. 

The film reportedly centers on a romance between the director of an international aid organization in Liberia (Theron) and a relief doctor (Bardem). The relationship begins to fall apart, however, as the two discover that they hold fundamentally different views on how to solve the issues of the war-torn country around them.

Although this is the first film that the pair has done together, they share a special moment in cinema history. Penn and Theron both won Oscars in 2004, Penn for "Mystic River" and Theron for "Monster."

Theron and Penn, who have been friends for a long time, began dating late last year and have since attended many public events together such as Paris Fashion Week late last month.

Penn was previously married to Madonna for four years, as well as to Robin Wright with whom he split in 2010 after 14 years of marriage. Theron was previously in a committed relationship with Irish actor Stuart Townsend from 2001-2010 although the couple never married.
