HTC Desire Eye Release Date Coming Soon In France? French Website Hints On Pricing, Costs Similar To One M8 Flagship

The HTC Desire Eye has just been announced, but pretty much every selfie enthusiast is already waiting for its release date.

Unfortunately, you may want to prepare your wallets and pockets for the alleged price tag.

In a report by Phone Arena, French website Nowhereelse has hinted that the price of the new Android-powered handset could be around €529, or roughly $673.

The price puts it near the HTC One M8 flagship, which was released in March. However, if you haven't bought the flagship device just yet but you want to purchase an HTC smartphone badly, then the Desire Eye can be a better deal.

The specs of the selfie-centric camera are pretty impressive and include a 5.2-inch IPS display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, a Snapdragon 801 chipset from Qualcomm, a 2GB RAM, and 16GB of built-in memory. Strangely, only 8GB is user accessible, and so HTC added a microSD card slot that can support up to 128GB of expanded memory.

The Desire Eye is powered by a 13MP primary camera and dual-LED flash on both its front and back. Running under the hood of the smartphone is Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat and it is powered by a 2,400mAh battery which should be decent enough to last 12 hours of moderate to heavy use.

Unfortunately for those who cannot afford, you may want to start hoping that the pricing gets much more manageable by the time the device becomes available in the market.

HTC has been criticized for its UltraPixel cameras in its last few high-end devices, but with this new handset, and the rumored One M8 Eye, the Taiwanese phone maker may have already changed its mind when it comes to bigger sensors.
