Paula Patton Officially Files For Divorce From Robin Thicke; Cites Irreconcilable Differences And Wants Joint Custody Of 4-Year-Old Son Julian [PHOTO]
Paula Patton has officially filed for divorce from Robin Thicke, and there are no blurred lines involved. Though Thicke made it obvious that he did not want a divorce and tried to revive their marriage, Patton nonetheless cited "irreconcilable differences" in papers filed in Los Angeles on October 3rd.
The couple married in 2005, and has been together for 8 years. They announced their split this past February, stating, "We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time."
An insider claims that the split was not as mutual as described - "Robin wanted to save their marriage, but it was Paula's choice and she ended it," they divulged. "Robin does not want this divorce." This rang true - just one month after their split was announced, Thicke tried to woo back Patton. At a March concert in Washington D.C., Thicke stated, "I want everybody here to know that I'm trying to get my girl back," and went on to sing "Lost Without U," his 2007 hit single that Patton inspired.
However, Patton didn't comply. Rumor has it that Thicke may have cheated on her - this past August, Thicke was photographed grabbing a woman's backside at N.Y.C. nightclub 10ak immediately following his controversial performance with Miley Cyrus at the MTV Music Awards. An observer commented, "He didn't act married."
Thicke himself has stated, "I told my wife the truth. That's why she left me," alluding to his wrongdoing.
Along with the divorce, Patton wants joint custody of the couple's 4-year-old son, Julian. Supposedly, despite the proceedings, she harbors no ill will towards Thicke. This past May, she commented, "[Robin and I] have known each other since we were teenagers... All I can tell you is there's a deep love there - always was, and always will be."
