Cleveland Cavaliers News: All-Star Point Guard Kyrie Irving injures Ankle, Says It's Nothing Serious

Cleveland Cavaliers news: Just days before the must-see pre-season game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Miami Heat in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, reports say that point guard Kyrie Irving seemed to have injured his right ankle.

According to a report by Brian Windhorst of ESPN, the 22-year-old floor general has been seen in Rio wearing a boot on his right foot.

In an interview, Irving mentioned that he sprained his ankle during a team practice, but insists that it is nothing serious. In a Twitter post, Irving shed light to the injury and assured Cavs fans not to worry.

"Just a sprained ankle from practice, in a walking boot for precautionary reasons. Not that serious, I'm all good."

Irving better bring out his A-game in their first pre-season match as they would be up against LeBron's former team, and if Miami wants anything in this world, it is to prove to themselves and anyone watching they can still compete at a high level even without the 4-time MVP.

However, as some analysts point out, Irving is the type of player whom James has not played with in his entire career - an all-star point guard who can shoot, penetrate and dish.

During an interview after the team's practice, LeBron stated how crucial Irving's role would be for the Cavs.

"I'll probably handle the ball a little bit, but this is Kyrie's show. "He's our point guard. He's our floor general, and we need him to put us in position to succeed offensively. He has to demand that and command that from us with him handling the ball."

In an earlier report, while the Cavs-Heat rivalry will certainly be a treat to watch, the entire game may also be seen as a homecoming from hometown cager Anderson Varejao, who recently represented the South American country at the FIBA World Cup in Spain.
