San Antonio Spurs News: Reigning 2014 NBA Champs Loses To Alba Berlin In Stunning Buzzer-Beater

San Antonio Spurs news: The Spurs may be one of the best teams in the league right now, and during the NBA 2014 Finals, they were certainly at the top, but it does not mean that they're not humans.

According to a report by Bleacher Report, the 2014 defending champs were stunned by Alba Berlin by winning a buzzer beater to escape with a 94-93 win in their pre-season game in Germany.

Alba Berlin, a professional ballclub in Germany kept the game close through four quarters and managed to steal the game from the Spurs in the end.

It was an all out effort for the German team, with almost all of its players scoring, except for one who only played a minute. Four players were in double figures to lead the way for Alba Berlin.

Meanwhile, it was Tony Parker who came up big for San Antonio, almost scoring at will with 28 points on 8 of 13 shooting, though he only managed 3 assists for the entire game. While he carried the Spurs down the stretch, he failed to seal the win when they needed it most, missing two crucial freethrows with only 24 seconds remaining and his team ahead by 4.

Redding of Alba drained a three to cut the lead to one, and then the German team forced a turnover off the half cour inbound for a fastbreak.

Tim Duncan and Kawhi Leonard were the only two Spurs players who scored in double figures.

While the pre-season games do not count and are often seen as testing ground for new combinations, plays and other tactics to be used for the regular season, it does not hurt to say that the Spurs have let this one slip away.
