American Horror Story Season 4: The Musical? Lots Of Singing To Be Featured On The Freak Show

Keeping up with the series' nature, "American Horror Story" season 4 promises to scare the heads out of its fans. But it also appears that "Freak Show" will have a touch of "Glee" in it as several musical performances have been slated on the show.

Earlier this month, the show's creator Ryan Murphy has teased that "American Horror Story" season 4 will feature Jessica Lange (who plays Elsa Mars) covering a Lana Del Rey song.

Murphy revealed the tidbit when he replied to a fan who tweeted, "I've been a loyal viewer but I am out on this one... between trailers and your comments, it is more than I can handle." The director said "Tina, don't be afraid! The clown is scary, true. But don't you wanna see Jessica Lange sing a Lana del Rey song?"

As it turns out, there will be more than one song number in the season. In an interview with E! Online, Murphy shared "We're doing a lot of great musical performances this year. It's a very unusual thing that we're doing, but I'm really proud of it."

The cast and crew has reportedly finished six musical numbers for the latest installment of the anthology series, but there might be more.

Murphy added that adding musical performances in "Freak Show" is his way of paying tribute to fellow director and friend Baz Luhrmann "who does such amazing things with music and period." The difference with "AHS," though is that the setting is in the 50s but the songs won't be from the era.

Co-creator Brad Falchuck explained "The idea was always that they could do songs that weren't of the time period as long as they were kind of songs by freaks. They had to have that element to it."

Apart from a cover of a Lana del Rey song, "American Horror Story" season 4 will also feature performances of songs by Kurt Cobain and David Bowie.
