The Flash TV Series Stars Grant Gustin As The Title Hero As The Show Debuts To Strong Ratings Scoring 4.5 Million Viewers!

Times have changed since Smallville, a TV series based on the DC Comics character Superman was a rare hit superhero series. Currently both comic juggernauts, DC and Marvel are regularly growing their prime time existence. Each week, shows like Arrow and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D bring comic inspired stories to the viewers while their corresponding studios are already devoted to providing more shows to boost their television fan base.

DC saw the premier of Fox's crime television series Gotham and The Flash, airing on The CW, this season alone. The former debuted a couple of weeks ago to promising rating and now the Scarlet Speedster has hit the airwaves with even higher numbers.

TV By the Numbers reported that The Flash scored a whopping 4.5 million viewers and a 1.8 in the critical 18-49 adult demo. This even made it the highest-rated series premier after The Vampire Diaries debuted in 2009. Once DVR numbers are factored in, the show's performance will shift but The CW has to be contented with The Flash's appropriately fast start.

Now since Arrow as well as The Flash shows are proving to be huge successes for DC, will the company stick to its choice to keep the shows detached from the developing film universe will be interesting to see. The Flash and Green Arrow are most popular members of the team and it won't be a surprise if DC/WB was sticking around to see if both series continues to do well before it commits to any connection to the films.

In either case, DC has nailed the strategy of translating its characters on television.  This truly opens the doors to other DC superhero series
