HTC One M8 Eye Release Date Silently Hits China, Is New Flagship Now Ready To Be Called The Perfect Android Handset?

While the HTC One M8 has been released months ago, it can still be one of the most popular Android devices this year as it gets an improved version. And since we heard rumors of this new device, consumers are already waiting for the official HTC One M8 Eye release date.

If you watched or read about the Double Exposure event of HTC yesterday, you probably think the HTC Desire Eye is the smartphone for you. However, as we speak no exact release dates have been mentioned or announced by the Taiwanese manufacturer, although there are reports which point to a launch on AT&T this holiday season.

But in case you just can't wait to get your hands on a new selfie-powered smartphone, and you live in China, then there's some great news for you.

According to a report from Phone Arena, the Taiwan-based phone maker has quietly unveiled the new HTC One M8 Eye to the Chinese market.

Like in previous rumors, the One M8 Eye boasts the same specs of the original flagship which includes a 5-inch display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, 2GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 801 chipset. However, it does get the upgraded 13MP primary camera at the back with the secondary depth sensor to get that Duo Camera technology.

In front, there is still the 5MP front shooter that is also capable of decent resolution selfies, though the 13MP front cam of the Desire Eye puts this to shame.

In the report, the device will cost around $650 or CNY 3,999, which is pretty much how the One M8 was priced when it hit the market in March and April.

So do you think with this upgrade, the HTC One M8 Eye flagship has ascended to the status of the Galaxy S5, LG G3, Xperia Z2 and other high-end Android handsets?
