Red Band Society Ratings Slip Further Down; Episode 4 Tackles Homecoming And Pity

The latest episode of Fox's "Red Band Society" gave the show its lowest ratings so far.

While "Red Band Society" started off fairly well - receiving mixed reviews from critics, getting good viewership on its first couple of episodes - the show doesn't seem to get a hold of its audience as well as it hoped.

According to a report from Hypable, the show's numbers went from 3.3 million on its previous episode to 2.89 million for this week's offering.

The show about high school students facing life-threatening health conditions tackled Homecoming on its fourth episode.

Kara (Zoe Levin) was finally allowed to attend the dance. She was given leave to go to the party but only with a chaperone - Nurse Brittany, who then asked to allow Emma to come with them, much to Kara's chagrin. Upon learning that Emma will attend the dance, Leo decided to come with so she won't feel alone.

While Kara originally intended to make a comeback and show the students from her school that she was still fearsome, the reaction she got was the opposite. She was welcomed like some sort of hero and was even crowned homecoming queen. Leo (Charlie Rowe) helped her get her point across and went on stage and threw insults at her.

Much like Kara, Leo did not like being pitied and shared his thoughts with Nurse Jackie, saying: "I don't want to be a sob story. I want to be a regular guy."

The whole episode was focused on the kids' wanting to have normal lives despite their health conditions.

Meanwhile, in an interview with the Examiner, Ciara Bravo who plays Emma shared some details about the character she's playing. "I think each episode brings out something different in her and we get to see a little deeper into her soul and into her mind and how everything works for her," says Bravo.

She adds, "As the episodes progress, you'll see a deeper Emma and why her eating disorder has developed and the tole that it takes on her emotionally. Just how helpless she feels."

It appears as though there are lots to look forward to in the coming episodes of "Red Band Society." Fans would have to stay tuned and help in spiking up the ratings, too. The show airs Wednesdays at 9PM on Fox.
