‘Smiths' Legend Morrissey Looking Cheerful In Madrid Performance Despite Cancer; Says He's Has An Upcoming Novel

Music legend Morrissey has puts on a brave stance with his recent performance at the Barclaycard Arena in Madrid Spain days after he reveals in the Spanish newspaper El Mundo that he has been suffering with cancer for 18 months now. This Madrid concert is part of his European tour that started on Monday in Lisbon, Portugal.

Wearing a bright red shirt and baggy pants, the 55-year old artist cheered the crowd with his classic hits with so much energy he gives to his singing, dancing and entertaining his guests. The signs of cancer are not visible in his appearance.

It is on Monday this week that the ex-Smiths member revealed he has been battling with cancer and has been in four sessions of receiving cancer treatments already. Morrissey, however, has not revealed yet what type of cancer he is suffering.

In an interview with journalist Javier Blanquez, he said, "I know I look quite bad on recent photographs, but I am afraid this is what illness does to the overall countenance. I will save relaxation for when I'm dead."

Further he said, "I have had four cancer-scrapings, but so what. If I die, I die. If I don't, then I don't. As I sit here today I feel very well."

Meanwhile, the Irish musician has been busy with other projects exploring his creativity including plans of releasing his first ever novel after last year's release of his autobiography.

"My novel is coming along well, but it would be presumptuous of me to talk about something that is not finalized yet. It will probably be published next year and with luck I will be able to stop singing forever, which would make many people happy!," he said.

Aside from Madrid and Lisbon, Portugal, the musician is set to perform 30 concerts all over Europe with a concert in Greece set in December and the 29th of November in London, reports from BBC said.
