What happened last week on "Blue Bloods?"

In Episode 2, called "Forgive and Forget," "Jamie refuses to shun a cop who testified against her partner, earning him disapproval from Eddie and other officers. Elsewhere, Erin and Danny get into a dispute when a closed case leads to a new murder; and a sports celebrity visits Frank."

What should we look forward to for the first episode of Season 5? Warning: spoilers ahead!

According to Carter Matt, "'Burning Bridges' is the title for the next new episode of 'Blue Bloods,' and with a name like that, you have to anticipate that there is going to be all sorts of conflict. How testy are things going to be? Basically, we're going to see whether or not Danny and Erin can overcome all of the Isabelle Green tension from this episode, and move forward to take on different projects. For one, there is an interesting story about social politics and equality that is going to play out throughout the episode, and this is one of those few plots that really does have a present-day impact beyond just being a standard case that you see on other shows."

"If there is one group in New York City that many, police and politicians alike, are afraid of, it is the church. Therefore, it is pretty safe to say that Frank is in a pretty major pickle on Friday night's new episode of 'Blue Bloods' after angering the archdiocese with his comments on a particular issue. Does he stand by them? Definitely, but he still has to figure out how to smooth things over...He has to figure out a way to make the church less angry and to backtrack in that sense, but not change his stance on the issue at hand. This is not where he excels, and he's going to need a little bit of help. Ultimately, the hard problem for him here is that we're not quite sure he is ever going to be able to figure this out without disappointing someone in one camp or the other. This is just the way that politics works sometimes when you are dealing with serious issues like this. The only thing that he can really hope for in the end here is that he doesn't have a situation here where he just ends up angering everyone. That, at this point, is the last thing that you want to do in such a situation," explained Carter Matt.

What will happen on next week's episode of "Blue Bloods" called "Excessive Force?" According to the show's official synopsis, "Danny's charged with using excessive force, which puts Frank in a difficult position. Elsewhere, sparks fly between Jamie and an attractive doctor, inciting jealousy in Eddie."
