Oscar Buzz: Jessica Chastain And James McAvoy In ‘The Disappearance Of Eleanor Rigby’ Him And Her Versions Impress Critics, ‘Zero Dark Thirty’ Actress To Finally Win Oscar?

In South Korean director Hong Sangsoo films, multiple points of view circling around one event are common. Elsewhere in the world filmmakers usually stick to one protagonist. However, this year director Ned Benson decided that a crumbling marriage was best told in two points of view as opposed to one.

Jessica Chastain and James McAvoy have already appeared in "The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Them." This was the Harvey Weinstein spliced version of the two separate "Him" and "Her" versions that Benson originally released. Critics outside of those who witnessed the double feature at The Toronto International Film Festival have been recently dazzled by their performance, with special consideration for Jessica Chastain. With the Oscar race fully underway, some have begun to wonder if the "Zero Dark Thirty" actress will finally take the golden statue home in February for Best Actress.

Jessica Chastain recently told Mindy Kaling in Interview Magazine about what it was like to work with James McAvoy.

"It happens a lot. I actually had difficulty keeping a straight face on ‘The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby', especially because James McAvoy is super, super funny, and he improvs a lot. There's a lot of me breaking, but doing it in character that actually made it into the film," she said.

Perhaps that breaking of character makes her deeply emotional scenes that much more wonderful to watch in the newly released "The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Her" version of the film. A.V. Club reviewed the double feature and while they had good things to say about James McAvoy, they believe that Jessica Chastain is superb, especially in the version that focuses on hers.

But what are the chances that she'll actually win the Best Actress Oscar this February? Indiewire's current predictions are leaning toward Julianne Moore in "Still Alice," but thankfully Chastain currently has another film that may secure her the award entitled "A Most Violent Year."

Whatever happens, fans of Jessica Chastain and James McAvoy can catch the pair in the "Him" and "Her" double feature releases of "The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby" starting today.
