Tom Daley's Boyfriend Dustin Lance Black Unmoved By Media Attention On His Personal Life; British Olympic Diver Says Coming Out Has Been Positive

Tom Daley's boyfriend Dustin Lance Black is unmoved by the media attention on his personal life as the British Olympic diver said that coming out was the best decision.

In an interview with the Windy City Media Group, Tom Daley's boyfriend Dustin Lance Black said that he doesn't mind the media attention on their relationship because it was a conscious decision to share their moments with the world.

"That was in order to tell my story and, hopefully, dispel some of the myths and stereotypes out there, and to encourage others to do the same. Gay and lesbian people shouldn't have to bare their personal lives to the world but, like Harvey Milk said, 'By coming out, we do change hearts and minds,'" he said.

"I can't exactly be upset with the media for continuing to look at my personal life. It's a choice I made," he added.

On the other hand, speaking before the Leaders Sport Business Summit in London, Tom Daley said that gay athletes should not be afraid of coming out, per Mirror.

"I think people would be surprised how supported they'd be if they were to come out in a football environment. You don't have to do a YouTube video and announce that you're straight. It shouldn't be anyone's business," he said.

The celebrated diver came out in a YouTube post last year. Tom Daley's boyfriend Dustin Lance Black then came later in the picture even with the two-decade difference between the two.

"It comes down to each individual person. At the time I individually felt ready, I did it. Everyone's been really supportive," he said. "If anything it's been positive. It was a life decision to make. It wasn't a business decision.

However, he revealed that they talked to his sponsors about coming out and "everyone has been so supportive."
