Barbra Streisand Goes Somewhere Over The Rainbow with Judy Garland in Classic Performances on New Record

Barbra Streisand is a classic. The artist has conquered both sides of the big screen and her voice soars whether she sings solo or in collaboration. The "Star Is Born" star's voice can take anyone over the rainbow.

Barbra has two new albums, "Judy Garland And Friends: Duets" and "That Old Feeling: Classic Ballads From The Judy Garland Show" available on the Savoy Jazz label. The records include some unforgettable duets and performances including a timeless duet with Dorothy herself, Judy Garland.

Barbra Streisand is back on the charts with her new "Partners" album. Savoy Jazz collected new gems in her duet repertoire. Including Streisand's duets with icon Judy Garland.

"The Judy Garland Show" was a star vehicle for an artist now considered to be one of the greatest entertainers to hit the stage and screen.  Some people call Garland the greatest. The series was celebrated for its fascinating showcasing of Garland's talent and the many, many stars that appeared and indeed, paid homage to the legendary performer.

This compilation provides an even greater look at Judy's joy in music and the heightened level of enthusiasm she achieved in her teamings with both friends and with some of the timeless vocalists of the Twentieth Century.

Two of the songs featured on the two Savoy Jazz releases, "Hooray For Love," which is a medley from appears on "Judy Garland and Friends: Duets" and the all-time classic "Get Happy/Happy Days Are Here Again" medley taken from "That Old Feeling: Classic Ballads From the Judy Garland Show" were recorded in the early 60's.

The two albums are collections of hand-picked performances taken from the 1963 CBS-TV series "The Judy Garland Show."

Emmy-winning historian John Fricke compiled the performances. Many of them have never been available on CD. The songs showcase the talents of entertainers such as Streisand, Tony Bennett, Mel Torme, Lena Horne, Count Basie, Vic Damone and others.  Also included in the packages are rare black and white photographs taken from rehearsals and tapings of the Garland series.

Savoy Jazz is a unit of The Savoy Label Group, the North American based division of Nippon Columbia the oldest music company in Japan.
