According to TV Grapevine, "The battle round opens with team members dueling in duets. The star advisers are Stevie Nicks, Little Big Town, Alicia Keys and Gavin Rossdale, who will be joining forces with Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams to prepare teams for the next phase of the competition. Coaches from NBC's Emmy Award-winning musical competition series "The Voice" have each selected their 12-member teams that will advance to the Battle Rounds phase of the competition. Beginning Monday, Oct. 13 (8-10 p.m. ET/PT), the coaches and celebrity advisers will work with their respective teams of performers and develop skill sets, offer advice and encouragement, and share secrets about their own personal success. During the Battle Rounds, each coach will pit two of their own team members against one another and will perform the same song together in front of a studio audience. After the vocal battle, the coach must choose which of his/her artists will advance to the Knockout Round, while the losing artist is available to be stolen by another coach. Each coach has two steals available during the Battle Rounds."

Hallels added, "It was only last week that the show wrapped up the blind auditions and the judges finalized their teams after selecting the 48 artists during the first round of the competition. Each of the teams at the present only has 12 members now. These Battle Rounds are one of the most crucial and exciting stages of the show. This round is going to see the coaches judge the talent and narrow what is there before going on to the next round. From what we know about the Season 7 Battle Rounds for Team Adam, Chris Jamison is going to be paired alongside Jonathan Wyndham. The two perform 'Young Girls' by Bruno Mars. Alessandro Castronovo and Joe Kirk are singing 'Stay' by Rihanna ft Mikky Ekko. As for Team Blake, Craig Wayne and James David Carter are going to perform "Wave on Wave" by Pat Green, Justin Johnes and Tanner Linford are going to do "You and I" by One Direction. At this time, Grant Ganzer and John Martin will compete against each other and do 'Stop and Stare' by One Direction. Team Pharrell will be characterized by Griffin and Luke Wade paired to perform "Maybe I'm Amazed" by Paul McCartney. Jordy Searcy and Taylor Phelan are going to perform 'Breakeven' by the Script. As for Team Gwen, Amanda Lee Peers and Taylor John Williams are paired together and they will sing Jolene by Dolly Parton. Jean Kelley and Sugar Joans have also been paired together and they will sing 'Survivor' by Destiny's Child. The Battle Rounds are going to premiere today, which will be followed by the second pair of Battles on Tuesday."
