HTC Desire Eye Release Date: The World’s Best Smartphone Camera For Selfie? Specs Of New Android Handset Incl. 13MP Sensor; Avail. Holidy Season

HTC Desire Eye: Will the camera specs of the new HTC Desire Eye make it the best camera for selfies? The new Android handset sports a 13MP front-facing camera wide-angle camera with dual LED flash and a rear-facing 13MP camera. Aside from this high-end sensors, the device is also water-resistant for up to one meter under water and for up to 30 minutes.

The device is expected to be released on AT&T during the holiday season. PetaPixel notes that the Desire Eye “packs the world’s highest resolution selfie camera.”

Digital Trends note that the HTC Desire Eye also features what is called an HTC Eye. The latter promises face tracking capabilities that will help keep faces in frame and a split-screen feature that provides a shot of the user and their surroundings.

There is also the “Voice Selfie” feature, which snaps an image with the spoken command of “say cheese” or starts filming “on action.” Other features in the new handset previously seen in an HTC phone are also in the device, Digital Trends note, such as Live Makeup, Face Fusion, and other image modifications.

PhoneArena notes that the HTC Desire Eye marks the company’s foray in the field of “selfie-centric” handsets. The device has a 5.2-inch display with 1080P resolution and a pixel density of 423 ppi. Under the hood it has a Snapdragon 801 processor that clocks in at 2.3GHz and powered with 2GB of RAM. It also has 16GB internal storage, has Micro SD support, and a 2,400 mAh battery.

The HTC Desire Eye was launched last week and AT&T confirmed that it will be the exclusive carrier of the handset. The U.S. carrier will also be exclusively offering the HTC RE, a point-and-shoot camera. AT&T in its press release note that the device will arrive in time for the holiday season.
