Nexus 6 Specs, Release Date: Android L Ad Feature Rumored New Flagship From Google; Mid-October Launch Expected

Nexus 6 specs, release date: An Android L ad featuring several handsets may have probably shown the rumored upcoming Google mobile flagship, the Nexus 6 or Nexus X. The device is still speculated to arrive by mid-October, even October 16 – the same time Apple is holding an event.

According to NDTV, a new Google ad campaign in the U.S. reportedly being aired is meant to gear up for the launch of the upcoming Nexus smartphone and tablet and the availability date of Google’s newest mobile OS, Android L. The tagline for the video advertisement is “Android be together. Not the same.”

NDTV notes that the videos are directed to a site that’s accompanied with a link to an Android site that’s currently not live, but is expected to go live as soon as the handsets and the rumored Nexus 9 tablet has been made available. One of the Google videos show a handset similar to the much rumored Nexus 6 or Nexus X device, sporting Android L navigation controls. NDTV describes the video:

“The purported smartphone seen in this video (below) shows a man holding a device that has a long form factor and the video also includes a tagline saying, ‘All kinds of phones for all kinds of folks.’"

Similar to previous new releases of Google, the date for the upcoming device has neither been denied nor confirmed. Despite the lack of any official evidence from Google that there will be a new device, speculations are rife on the specs of the device.

In a story titled “Nexus X: Everything we know about Google’s next flagship smartphone,” Patrick O’Rourke noted that the following specs are what’s expected from the device:

- 5.92-inch display
- 2560 x 1440 resolution, 498 ppi
- Snapdragon 805 processor
- 3 GB of RAM
- A model with 32 GB of storage
- 3,200 mAh battery
- 13 MP rear camera, 4K UHD video capable
- 2 MP front-facing camera

A report by Android Authority has also said that the Nexus X may be released together with the Nexus 9 and the site pegged an October 15 or 16 date for the possible unveiling of the units.

Speculations have suggested that Motorola will be the manufacturer of the new Nexus mobile handset with some noting that the codename for the yet to be released phone is “Motorola Shamu.”
