Jack White Tour Dates Cancelled After Keyboardist Isaiah ‘IKey’ Owens Dies At Hotel In Mexico

Sad news!

Jack White's keyboardist Isaiah "IKey" Owens has been found dead in his hotel room in Mexico.

Due to the tragic event, White and his band have cancelled their remaining Mexico tour dates.

Owens' body was reportedly discovered on Tuesday, Oct. 14.

According to TMZ, police officers found drugs and alcohol in 38-year-old Owens' room. However, the cause of death is currently under investigation.

The musician had been touring with White for the past few years and has also played with The Mars Volta and Free Moral Agents, as well as other projects.

Later on Tuesday, White made a statement in honor of Owens on the website of his record label, Third Man Records.

"It is with great sadness that we tell the world of the passing of the incredible musician Isaiah 'Ikey' Owens," read the statement. "He will be missed and loved forever by his family, friends, bandmates and fans. We will all miss you Ikey. You were and are an incredible artist."

In June, Owens, a Long Beach, California native, told the OC Register about his plans to move to Nashville and discussed the self-titled solo album that had just recorded.

"I enjoy what I do, it's really good," Owens told the publication. "I'm really happy with the people I've gotten to work with."

Although Owens had found it difficult to sustain a music career while living in California, he had hoped to embrace new career possibilities in Nashville.

The OC Register also praised Owens for his keyboarding with the former White Stripes musician, raving that his work stood out on stage and that he was a "natural rock star."
