iPad Air 2 Release Date Just A Day Away, New Leaked Specs Allegedly Confirm A8X Chipset, 2GB RAM, Thinner Frame

The battle between Android and iOS is pretty tight as we approach the end of the week. Tomorrow may be the launch of the new high-end Nexus 9 from HTC, but Apple sure would not be overtaken easily as it will host the iPad Air 2 release date on Thursday, October 16 in California.

For the past weeks, we have been reading rumors and reports that the new iPad Air will be thinner than ever, thanks to some rearranged and removed parts from the thin slate last year. We will surely not be surprised if the iPad Air 2 becomes the thinnest tablet ever.

A new report from Phone Arena also confirms that the new device from Apple will be powered by a A8X chipset, which supports the same 64-bit applications, but is reportedly more powerful than the current A8 chips found on the Cupertino manufacturer's iPhones.

Also allegedly included in the new iPad is a bigger 2GB RAM, which is double the current RAM in the new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, as well as the previous generations of the Apple tablet.

According to a recent report, the 2GB RAM will help the tablet run two applications simultaneously via split screen. The new iPhones reportedly did not get 2GB of RAM because screen space was not enough for split screen functionality.

While most of the specs are already a given for the new iPad Air 2 such as the Touch ID home button, 8MP primary camera at the back, and the new iOS 8 update, what's even more important is the pricing for the device.

Apple has cut down costs for its MacBook Air lineup earlier this year, while it now sells the new iPhones at such a high price. Will the pricing for the new iPad Air and iPad mini 3 follow the former or latter?

We will find out in just a day.
