Psy's 'Gangnam Style' is a Japanese Song?!

Psy's "Gangnam Style" has been featured all over the world from CNN to the L.A Times and even on French TV programs. Japan has parodied the song with "Gundam Style" as well in Korea. The 2012 London Olympic athletes were even dancing to this song.

WIth over 12 million views on YouTube, gaining much popularity worldwide. Since the release of his music video, there have been a number of 'reaction' and 'parody' videos uploaded as well.

Psy seemed to have come out with this music video at just the right time. In the midst of all these idol groups, he came out with a fresh new take on K-Pop. His 'American Pie' style concept and dance moves also caught many people's attention.

With many foreign K-Pop fans only used to pretty and cute K-pop, they were shocked and fascinated to see a different character come onto the scene. His music video alone received over 114,500 comments.

However, there were some comments that caught people's attention. Comments were saying that "Gangnam Style" was actually a Japanese song.

Some of the comments read, "Japan makes great pop music", "Awesome Japanese music" and "This is why I love Japanese music." These viewers automatically thought of Psy and his music as Japanese without confirmation.

Other commenters began correcting them by saying that "Gangnam Style" is actually Korean music. This however, caused more trouble online.

Comments directed to those who stated that this was a Korean song wrote, "This Japanese music video is great. Koreans are just jealous that they don't have great music like this", "I lived in Seoul my whole life and I can assure you that this is a Japanese song" and "Korea does not have the money to make a song like this."

In reactions to those comments, another viewer commented, "I think these people are just not willing to admit that Korea made a great song like this."

These comments were captured and posted on an online community board with the title, "Japanese are attacking Psy's music video."

Some responses to the photo captures were, "Foreigners still think that Asians mean Japanese or Chinese" and "This song is a bit different from the usual K-Pop, but this is shocking."

Psy plans to promote his album in Japan this September.
