Carmen Electra Spills The Beans About Her Bad Marriage With Dennis Rodman; Says It Was Just A Leeway To Deal With Her Mother’s Death

Everybody might have forgotten about it but Carmen Electra used to be married to the NBA star Dennis Rodman in the 1990s. Speculations on how the marriage end have been circling around that time but it is only this year in the Oprah Winfrey Show, in her segment "Where Are They Now?" that the 42-year old actress, finally, feels comfortable talking about it publicly.

The former Baywatch babe is said to have been experiencing a kind of quarter life crisis that time as her mother is diagnosed with brain tumor and meeting Dennis is part of that painful phase she was experiencing, reports from the Toronto Sun unveiled.

"...And literally a couple of days after coming home, she died. I went into self-destruction and I remember meeting Dennis. Dennis was the life of the party; he was fun. I started drinking. People couldn't understand why I loved him because he had a reputation for being a bad boy and what I saw at the beginning was, sort of, this gentle giant that was in a lot of pain. In a way, we kind of understood each other," the tearful actress said.

In the talk show, the model admitted that that marrying the basketball star is a spur-of -the-moment decision and has been a very deliberate move to conceal the pain of loss from her mother's tragic passing.

"It was so fast, it was so spontaneous and I remember right after (exchanging vows), I felt like, 'Oh God... what did we just do?" she shared to the audience.

Further she said, "We were probably married for about a year... and I remember I was watching Oprah and she said, 'In order to heal, you have to feel'. And that's when it clicked - I was like, 'I'm not feeling I lost my mum, I'm not feeling that because I have just made my life chaos and blocked that out. I took quite a bit of time and I started working on myself, started getting myself together."

Their union lasted for a year until they agreed to divorce in 1999. Reports on TMZ said that the couple is accused of "battering each other."
