Ed Sheeran Has Moved On From Cheating Ex Ellie Goulding; Says He Writes His Anger In Hit Song 'Don't'

His hit single "Don't" that tells a story about a cheating girlfriend who went off with another guy has stirred guesses from listeners as to whether Ed Sheeran based it from a personal experience. For the first time since its release on April, the hitmaker finally confirmed, that yes, it is about his ex-girlfriend Ellie Goulding who had a fling with One Direction's Neil Horan.

Hollywood Life quoted Sheeran's answer in an interview in Howard Stern's radio show asking the All The Stars singer if he is really referring to Horan in his song.

"The papers says a lot of things. I have kept my mouth shut about a lot of things. I think if you add any fuel to any fire. I didn't really come out of that situation upset," Ed said. "I was just pissed off. I just thought it was a bit disrespectful," he said.

The A Team singer, however, added that he does not hold any anger or grudge anymore and had let go of any ill-feelings the moment he started to write the song about it.

"I got over it as soon as the song was done and the song happened pretty soon after," he said, admitting that he did confront the guy afterward. "It's a difficult conversation to have... He was my mate, so I was just a bit like, 'Um not cool,' but..."

To quote a line from the song, Sheeran says, "I never saw him as a threat, 'til you disappeared with him to have sex,' and 'If I show courtesy and respect to someone, I expect to receive it."

It was on the MTV VMA awards 2013 that Ellie Goulding is seen holding hands with the One Direction guy. But the Burn singer insistently denied that they are just friends.

Last month, the red-haired singer gave a friendly kiss to Neil Horan as a sign of friendship while they were attending the iHeart Radio Music Festival.
