Blake Shelton Talks Marriage To Miranda Lambert, Reveals Why They’ll Never Do An Interview Together

Country stars Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert's marriage has been fodder for tabloids since the day they said 'I do.'

In an interview with "60 Minutes" on Sunday night, Shelton told host Norah O'Donnell that he and his wife will never do an interview together, but that doesn't mean they're not happily married.

"We try so hard to keep people's focus on what we do and not our marriage," said Shelton, whose high-profile singing career and host job on NBC's "The Voice" keep him in the headlines.

"It's almost impossible to do that, and why open that door any further than it already is open by sitting down and doing interviews together and giving every freakin' magazine out there a two-sentence quote that's turned into alien babies... There's no reason for us to do that," he continued. "We do interviews [separately], I love talking about her, I'll talk about her all day if you want to. But for her and I to sit here together, it's just going to turn into something about our marriage and it's all we got left that's private, is she and I and our home. And we just want to keep it that way."

Shelton came under a lot of scrutiny from country music fans when he divorced his first wife Kaynette Gern in 2006 after meeting Lambert at the CMT's 100 Greatest Duets Concert in 2005. Shelton and Lambert tied the knot in 2011.

On the topic of his previous marriage, Shelton told O'Donnell, "I was married, that was... ," struggling to finish the painful sentence.

"That was easily the toughest thing that I've ever been through," Shelton continued. "I put that, my divorce, up there with my brother's death, and that was a tough, tough call to make."

Just last month, Shelton addressed tabloid gossip about his relationship with Lambert. After In Touch Weekly suggested that he and Miranda may be leading separate lives, the 38-year-old "Mine Would Be You" crooner took to Twitter, writing:

During the "60 Minutes" segment, Lambert also spoke, although not side-by-side with her husband. The "Somethin' Bad" singer agreed with Blake that she would prefer not to do an interview as a couple, in order to keep their marriage as private as possible.

"We feel like we're very honest with who we are and our relationship," said Lambert. "We've kinda told the good, the bad, the ugly as our relationship has progressed from the beginning till now. And people dig anyway and they make up lies, so I feel like, we don't really hold back, because if you hold back they're going to dig anyway so might as well just tell it."

The 30-year-old added,"The only private thing we have is our home and, if we don't protect that, then we have nothing. We have to have something that's just for us. At some point you just have to go 'all right, this is it, this is our line, you know.' We have our one little area of the world that no one can come into."
