The Wonder Girls Amaze At Wonder World Tour Singapore Press Conference

How can you not be in wonder?  They are the Wonder Girls.  Hours leading to the concert, this group of five ladies took some time to indulge the media with their thoughts.  With their charm and humble confidence, they graciously answered questions.  Even if the setting was formal, the girls were still their down-to-earth selves.   It was amazing to hear and watch them speak their thoughts so confidently yet also so humbly as if they are not this generation's Hallyu wave pioneers.

Firstly, Lim thanks everyone for coming and expresses the group's excitement to be in Singapore.  Yenny then expressed how this was their first solo concert in Singapore, but not exactly their first time.  They came about two years ago for a special MTV Live Stage, and remember the fun they had during that time.

"Right before the concert, we just came from New York, so still have a little bit of jet lag", Sun quipped.  Despite jetlag she continued that they are really looking forward to the concert. With their still glamorous and fresh faces, the media representatives couldn't help but compliment them saying, they still look great despite jetlag.  Sohee then expressed appreciation for their Singaporean hosts, "People are nice and kind and is a very good experience for us."

During the press conference, they were asked what they would like to do apart from being part of Wonder Girls.  Lim said that she wants to get into acting and that recently she found a passion for this career.  Yenny is really inspired to write, so wants to continue doing that and exploring a variety of music styles and radio DJing.  Sun is also interested in dabbling into different kinds of music while Yubin is interested in acting and radio hosting and expressed her love for the stage. Lastly, Sohee would like to do acting again in the future if given the chance.

Throughout the press conference, the Wonder Girls seemed to center on a theme of wanting to learn more and to continue growing as artists.  Asking them to choose and pick a single influence or a single dream was often a difficult question to answer.  Being the humble and driven women that they are, they all acknowledge that growth is continuous and that they must do a lot to achieve success.

When asked what keeps them going when the going gets tough, Yenny leads the answer by saying that with there being five girls in the team, they are always assured of somebody to be there to help them out.   She also expressed the importance of the fans, especially the love and energy the fans share which is energy they draw from for themselves.  Lastly, she mentions that their love for performing keeps them going.  Sun adds that being able to do what they want to do always keeps them on their feet.

Then, when asked to rate in a scale of 1-to-10 their success in breaking through the US market, the girls were in a stump, again showcasing their being down-to-earth and humble. Sun grappled for an answer by requesting the interviewer for the criteria for the scale. While, Yenny began to attempt an answer by saying they all think that they are still in the process, and gave the team a score of '7', leaving them room to continue working on being successful.

Back to the topic of the concert, the Wonder Girls promise their own different style of performing.  They admit to being different from other people because they will have their own style, and they wish that people would appreciate this as they watch the show.   Being able to share their own flavor is what they are always excited and will always be thankful about.

The Wonder Girls continue to be amazed at the rising popularity of K-pop globally.  They share stories of being asked in the US about other K-pop artists, and they reminisce back to the time when they first started and it wasn't that big.  To see their music industry rise to such stratospheric heights really make them happy.  And of course, they were asked what they thought about the recent K-pop hit "Gangnam Style".  Lim remembers their many interviewers while they were in the States asking them to demo "Gangnam Style" and how they did do that for them.  Definitely a mark of not just humble artists, but being great sport as well, The Wonder Girls is proud and will do anything to advance the image of their roots.

They were then also asked about their next album.  Sohee was proud to say that they were able to work with a lot of great producers and collaborated with a lot of talented people for that album.  She thought it will be great.  However, the date has not yet been confirmed, but it sounds like it definitely will be something to be excited about.

Finally, to tease about their Asia Tour concerts, they mentioned that they will be performing the track they collaborated with Akon, "Like Money" for the first time in Singapore. They were also doing solo stages.   They were also planning to show different colors to their music, so they said that they will be showing electronic music, hip hop and rock, challenging themselves to different kinds of genres for the concert. They also planned to have a special stage where they will pay tribute to their host country by donning Singapore costume.

At this press conference, the Wonder Girls proved how hardworking, humble and still continuously ambitious they are.  After their Asia Tour and when the US album is released, they plan on embarking on a US tour, as well as potentially doing shows or sitcoms in the US.   And they are not letting go of that tiny spark of a dream in their heart, which is to be able to enter the Billboard charts again.  With a group of graceful women who keep their feet planted on the ground, their hearts continuously open, while they dream big dreams, that dream is not impossible.
