Following His Much-Hyped Absence In 'Today' Appearance One Direction Singer Zayn Malik Starts Twitter Stampede With The Hashtag #ZaynIsBack

After his absence during the One Direction guesting at the Today show triggered drug rumors, Zayn Malik blew up Twitterverse with the hashtag #ZaynIsBack.

One Direction member Zayn Malik was seen joining his bandmates during a performance in Orlando, Florida on Tuesday night.

"The 21-year-old donned a white T-shirt and black jacket and pants for his comeback on stage with bandmates Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, and Liam Payne," said Us Weekly.

The magazine said that Malik Zayn reuniting with One Direction sent fans into a frenzy. On November 18, user @LashofZayn tweeted: "IM SO HAPPY I CAN SLEEP PEACEFULLY ZAYN MY SUNSHINE HES OKAY HES BACK THERES 5/5 NOW #ZaynIsBack.

Another fan added: "#ZAYNISBACK tell a friend the KING IS BACK."

The whole controversy stemmed from the series of questions by Matt Lauer of the Today Show when the British singer could not join his bandmates in the interview, said The Independent.

In explaining the absence of One Direction member Zayn Malik, Liam Payne answered: "He's got a tummy bug so he's not very well at the moment so he couldn't make it over."

But Matt Lauer pushed further: "Is it something more serious than just a minor illness? There have been rumours of substance abuse - what's going on?"

That insinuation didn't sit well with the One Direction singer.

"I'm really angry and upset by what was said on The Today Show. I was really ill at the weekend, that's why I couldn't fly to America," Malik Zayn told The Sun.

He added: "I was gutted to have to miss album release day, but I'm going to be back as soon as I can. As soon as I'm feeling better I'm going to join the guys and carry on with the promotion for the album."

Now that One Direction member Zayn Malik is back however, which triggered the hashtag ZaynIsBack, all is well in the world.
