Adam Pally Is Leaving 'The Mindy Project:' The Character Of Dr. Peter Prentice Will Be Bidding Us Adieu, But Has The Option Of Guest Starring If Pally's Schedule Permits [PHOTO]

Adam Pally is leaving the Fox show, "The Mindy Project." According to the Hollywood Reporter, Pally will be exiting the third-year comedy, but has the option of guest starring when and if his schedule permits. Unfortunately, the affable Dr. Peter Prentice will be bidding us adieu in early 2015, after season 3's 13th episode.

Pally served as one of the most in-demand actors last pilot season, and joined "The Mindy Show" during season 2. He was quickly upgraded to a regular character after the ABC fan favorite show "Happy Endings" was canceled. For those of you who may not know, Pally played Max Blum on "Happy Endings" for three seasons.

According to TV Line, Pally has recently made a deal with ABC studios to produce projects for broadcast, cable, and new media. Last season, Pally developed a comedy for ABC, which hailed from "How I Met Your Mother" writers Dan Gregor and Doug Mand. Its plot centers on two guys who become rich after developing a mobile application, and the show has received a script plus a penalty commitment from 20th Century Fox Television. However, Pally is not currently attached to star.

"The Mindy Project" seems to be going through yet another big casting shakeup - according to the Hollywood Reporter, actress Beth Grant was promoted to regular when the series underwent a midseason shuffle in its freshman run. Actresses Amanda Setton and Anna Camp left the series, along with original co-stars Zoe Jarman and Stephen Tobolowsky.

Executive producer Matt Warburton has repeatedly told reporters that the show would love to have Jarman's character Betsy appear again in the future, but as of now it seems the future of "The Mindy Project" is unclear casting-wise.
