'Mission Impossible 5' Star Tom Cruise Lauded By Brooke Shields For Genuine Apology; Katie Holmes' Ex In The Running For 'Highlander' Reboot

Actress Brooke Shields praised "Mission Impossible 5" star Tom Cruise for his genuine apology, as Katie Holmes' ex is reportedly being considered for the reboot of the "Highlander."

The whole controversy stemmed from the comment of the Hollywood A-lister way back in 2005 over the "Blue Lagoon" actress' revelation about using medication for her post-partum depression. During that time, Tom Cruise called Brooke Shields "irresponsible."

"I care about Brooke Shields, because she's extremely talented - and you think where has her career gone? What you can do with vitamins and exercise to help with that - she doesn't know what these drugs are," he told Access Hollywood in an interview.

However, SF Gate blog reported that Brooke Shields already considered the issue resolved as "Mission Impossible 5" star Tom Cruise personally apologized to her.

"He did reach out (to me) and I told him, 'Why don't you come here (to my house)' - it was my home turf. But I wasn't mad at him because he did himself in," she shared. "I knew what he was trying to do, he just went about it the wrong way. And I said that to him. I said, 'Look, forget who believes what or whatever, you had a point to make and you barked up the wrong tree.'"

"And he's like, 'I know. I don't know why I attacked you... your mom was the one who took care of me on the set of (1981 film) 'Endless Love,' and I'll never forget that.'... It was just genuine of him," Brooke Shields added.

Meanwhile, "Mission Impossible 5" star Tom Cruise is reportedly being wooed to appear as the mentor, played before by Sean Connery, in the "Highlander" reboot, said The Wrap. However, the website said that "the interest appears to be one-sided," as Katie Holmes' ex is not easily impressed because "he is offered tons of projects."
