Eva Mendes Breaks Silence On Daughter Esmeralda, Jokes That “Everything Is A Struggle’ For Her And Ryan Gosling’s Baby Girl

Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling have been extremely private about the birth of their daughter Esmeralda Amada Gosling.

In fact, the pair even managed to keep Mendes' pregnancy a secret from the press for months. However, the new mom just opened up about her 10-week-old baby girl in an interview with The Violet Files, and it appears the "Lost River" actress is figuring out motherhood.   

"I thought my wild nights were over, but these are some of the wildest nights I've ever had," said Mendes, 40, in her first interview since welcoming her baby girl.

"[I] read the comment section from other mothers because I find so much solace in that," she admitted. "Just knowing that I'm not alone out there and that other moms have gone through the same thing can at least get me through the night."

As for how she and beau Ryan Gosling picked out their baby's name, it appears that the couple found inspiration in some classic literature.

"Ryan and I both love the Esmeralda character from the Victor Hugo novel, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and we just think it's a beautiful name," Mendes explained. "Amada was my grandmother's name. It means 'beloved' in Spanish," she added.

So how is Mendes liking her new role as a mom?

"Motherhood is cake compared to what it's like to be a baby," she joked.

"Everything is a struggle for her," she revealed playfully. "For instance, I haven't thrown up since the '90s and she's thrown up twice since we started this interview."

The star "Hitch" star also discussed the decision she and Gosling made to remain mum about her pregnancy.

"Ryan and I decided early on to give her as much privacy as we could," she told the online publication. "And my pregnancy was the first opportunity to give her that," she explained.

"Whether we like it or not, privacy is going to be very difficult for Esmeralda," continued the actress. "I think it's unfair, but that's our reality."
