Why Taylor Swift Turned Her Back From Country Roots In Her Latest Album; ‘Blank Space’ Lyrics Songstress Says She’s ‘Dying To Do’ The Changes Found In ‘1989’

Many might have celebrated Taylor Swift's transition from a country sensation to a pop star but the "Blank Space" lyrics songstress that putting up her latest album wasn't an easy path because many doubted her decisions.

In a recent interview with Billboard magazine which crowned her as its "Woman of the Year," the "Bad Blood" hit maker revealed that it was her sole decision to remove country tracks from her latest album.

She remember how Big Machine Records founder Scott Borchetta "went into a state of semi-panic" when she dropped the bomb - that she didn't have any plans of releasing another country album.

The "Blank Space" lyrics songstress also recalled how people from her label urged her to add a little bit of country feel to her album "just to keep the peace" but all Swift gave them was a firm "no" because for her, it felt "disingenuous" to mix two genres when an album clearly fell under one category.

She further talked about the doubt which initially surrounded her album:

"Are you really sure you want to do this? Are you sure you want to call the album '1989?' We think it's a weird title. Are you sure you want to put an album cover out that has less than half of your face on it? Are you positive that you want to take a genre that you cemented yourself in, and switch to one that you are a newcomer to?' And answering all of those questions with 'Yes, I'm sure' really frustrated me at the time -- like, 'Guys, don't you understand, this is what I'm dying to do?'"

The "Blank Space" lyrics songstress also said that she wouldn't sing tracks written by other people: "I wouldn't be a singer if I weren't a songwriter. I have no interest in singing someone else's words."
