Eaten Alive Proven To Be A Discovery Channel Stunt: Naturalist Paul Rosolie Pledged To Be Eaten Alive By An Anaconda; Viewers Angered When He Backed Out [PHOTO]

On the Discovery Channel show "Eaten Alive," naturalist Paul Rosolie pledged to be swallowed whole by an anaconda while the public watched. However, in a recent two-hour special, Rosolie backed out of his proposal after the anaconda attacked him, angering many viewers.

According to TIME, the anaconda attacked Rosolie, coiled around him, and then began to eat his helmet. Rosolie then called for his team to rescue him, stating that his arm was being crushed. He said, "I started to feel the blood drain out of my hand and I felt the bone flex, and when I got to the point where I felt like it was going to snap I had to tap out."

Telegraph reports that Rosolie first came up with the idea of being eaten alive in order to help save rainforests habitats and bring attention to the dwindling ecosystem. He stated, "Everybody on Earth knows that the rainforests are disappearing and most people can tell you how important they are, but still, not enough people are paying attention, not enough people realize this is such a problem."

As a result, he had to think of something that people would watch, and came up with the idea of being swallowed alive by an anaconda, which typically suffocates its prey before ingesting it. The idea that he might die in the process was nerve-wracking, so experts crafted Rosolie a specially designed carbon fiber suit, equipped with a breathing system just in case.

However, things didn't quite work out the way he wanted them to. Upon being attacked by the Anaconda, Rosolie's breathing became strained and his heart rate slowed, and he began to fear for his life. In the end, the anaconda didn't get its meal, and Rosolie was left very much intact and uneaten, angering the show's audience. Twitter erupted with tweets like, "Eaten Alive? More like Briefly Drooled On By A Snake While Alive," and "'Eaten Alive' to be retitled 'Eaten Alive: Just Kidding.'" Rosolie has since received many death threats.

Telegraph reports that "Eaten Alive" will air on December 10 in Finland, Denmark, Hungary, Poland and Sweden, and two days later in Australia, before being broadcast in other countries, including China and India.
