Nina Dobrev and ex Ian Somerhalder have been reportedly playing up the "fued" in order to help the ratings for "The Vampire Diaries," as the "Let's Be Cops" actress is reportedly dating a co-star in the CW hit series.

According to Celebrity Dirty Laundry, all the buzz regarding the in-fighting on the set of "The Vampire Diaries" between Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder is intentional.

"A lot of the public and unsuspecting fan base gets suckered into thinking that their idols are perfect," the tabloid said. "And that they would never, ever call the paparazzi or that they would never, ever play up a rumor or a feud for media attention."

Nina Dobrev and ex-boyfriend Ian Somerhalder reportedly are fueding because he dated her BFF Nikki Reed. Then the "Twilight" actress allegedly always visited the set and engaging in a lot of PDA with "The Vampire Diaries" hunk, causing much awkwardness on the set.

"Now, whatever the truth, there's a reason that Nina and Ian are not denying any of these tabloid rumors. It's because stupid or not, annoying or not, inaccurate or not, they indirectly help the Vampire Diaries' ratings and they also help keep Nina and Ian in the spotlight," Celebrity Dirty Laundry noted.

Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed have been very open about their relationship on social media and have recently adopted a horse together. The actress is a confessed lover of animals and has a menagerie of pets in her home.

Meanwhile, Hollywood Life reported that Nina Dobrev has moved on from Ian Somerhalder and is dating Chris Wood, who plays Kai in the show.

"They are great friends who have hooked up on the recent times they have been out together but they are not currently looking to start a relationship. They are both very cool about it and it has not ruined working with each other or caused any issues," the source said.
