Ellen Page's Hans Solo Casting For 'Empire Strikes Back' Breaks Away From Norm; 'Juno' Actress Wears All Black In Los Angeles

Ellen Page's Han Solo casting for "Empire Strikes Back" broke away from the mold as the "Into the Forest" actress opted for an all-black ensemble in Los Angeles.

The "Juno" actress scored a role in the Live Read of "The Empire Strikes Back" by director Jason Reitman on Thursday night. She played the role of Han Solo while Jessica Alba read for the part of Princess Leia.

"The whole point of Reitman's live-read series is to take classic scripts and turn them into something we've never seen before," according to Entertainment Weekly.

In an interview, the director said that Ellen Page's turn as Han Solo in "Empire Strikes Back" is interesting since "the approach to every other character in 'Star Wars' is earnest and kind of sweet and old-fashioned."

"The heroes are heroes, and the villains are villains. And within this world, we're introduced to one human being who looks at it all with irony. He's the guy who doesn't give a crap," he said.

That sense of irony is what led him to immediately think of "Into the Forest" actress Ellen Page in casting Han Solo, even if it breaks the mold of a man playing the iconic character.

"In casting Han, the most important thing is: Who has the most interesting, ironic approach to life?" Jason Reitman added. "And when I think of that, I think of Ellen Page. She's a small human being who has the energy to fill Madison Square Garden."

Meanwhile, "Into The Forest" actress Ellen Page opted for an all-black ensemble as she was snapped on her way to her car on Saturday afternoon in Los Angeles. The 27-year-old also revealed how she's spending her time when she's alone in a tweet: "My new thang is reenacting @ChelseaVPeretti's "drip drop" moment of her special alone in my house...everything is goin great with me," she tweeted.
