JK Rowling Quips That Spanish Inquisition Is Her Fault In Response To Rupert Murdoch's Tweet About 'Growing Jihadist Cancer' [PHOTO]

Rupert Murdoch has recently been in the news for criticizing the Muslim population via Twitter. In the wake of the terror attacks in France, the News Corp CEO alluded that all Muslims are responsible for the actions of religious extremists. In return, JK Rowling responded with a Hogwarts-style Twitter lesson of her own.

According to The Guardian, Murdoch tweeted, "Maybe most Moslems peaceful, but until they recognize and destroy their growing jihadist cancer they must be held responsible." His tweet was retweeted more than 1,500 times, and was favorited by more than 767 people.

He later tweeted, "Big jihadist danger looming everywhere from Philippines to Africa to Europe to US. Political correctness makes for denial and hypocrisy."

Rowling responded, "I was born Christian. If that makes Rupert Murdoch my responsibility, I'll auto-excommunicate." According to NBC News, she also stated, "Eight times more Muslims have been killed by so-called Islamic terrorists than non-Muslims," and "The Spanish Inquisition was my fault, as is all Christian fundamentalist violence. Oh, and Jim Bakker."

For those who may not know, Bakker is an American televangelist whose New Year message included bitter attacks on "these people" (Muslims).

The Guardian reports that Rowling also praised "the courage and compassionate actions" of Lassana Bathily, the Muslim employee of the kosher supermarket that was the target of the second siege in Paris. He is known to have hidden Jewish customers from the gunman by leading them to a basement chiller room.

Rowling stated that Bathily's actions during the siege "remind us of what 'humanity' ought to mean."
