Nikki Reed Talks Solo Single 'Fly With You:' 'Twilight' Actress And Ian Somerhalder's Fiancee Shows Her Vulnerable Side [PHOTO]

Nikki Reed, known for her role as Rosalie Hale on "Twilight," is showing off her vulnerable side through her new single solo "Fly With You." Reed is recently engaged to "Vampire Diaries" actor Ian Somerhalder, and is ready to truly find her own sound.

In an interview with Nylon, she stated, "I was a very sensitive kid who then had to condition myself to desensitize. Now I feel like my journey is to try to do the opposite, and find that connection with my own sensitivity again."

This is Reed's first musical project after divorcing Paul McDonald of "American Idol" in December.  E Online reports that she previously made music with McDonald, but this time she feels differently about it. She said, "There was something so beautiful and honest about what Paul and I created, but there's no denying that it had a very different feel from this...

It's just as real and as raw, but I connected with this music in a totally different way. It's a new chapter for me." She added, "I don't think I've ever done anything this vulnerable and personal."

Reed's new song has been described as "make-out music," but its true value reaches far beyond romance. In fact, she is donating a portion of the proceeds from the song to the Wildlife Waystation, a Los Angeles animal sanctuary.

She said of the decision, "It's taken me a while to figure out who I feel comfortable being on social media, because for the longest time, it was just a place to promote, promote, promote. I wanted to talk about what I felt excited to talk about and maybe that didn't have anything to do with projects."

She continued, "It's been a journey to figure out what kind of contribution I want to make, and what kind of person I want to be on this planet."
