Topshop Pays Rihanna $5.5 Million For T-Shirt Lawsuit; ‘We Found Love’ Songstress To Celebrate By Bringing Leonardo DiCaprio To Barbados?

Rihanna is starting her year with luck after winning a lengthy legal battle against Topshop. The British fashion label had to shell out $5.5 million after being sued by the "We Found Love" singer for its released shirt design.

The 26-year-old songstress sued Arcadia, Topshop's parent company, after retailing thousands of shirts printed with an image of her while shooting the music video for "We Found Love." RiRi's argument is that fans might falsely assume that she's endorsing Topshop.

Topshop , on the other hand, claims that printing images of stars on merchandise items should be deemed a tradition. The British court eventually decided that Topshop shouldn't market the shirts without acquiring proper consent from the "California King Bed" singer Rihanna.

Lord Justice Daid Kitchin reasoned out, "People could be deceived into buying the t-shirt perhaps believing it was authorised by Rihanna. Topshop sold the t-shirt without Rihanna's approval and this amounted to passing off."

"In the present case I am entirely satisfied that the judge did have a proper regard to the distinction between endorsement and general character merchandising. The judge considered the use of this image would in all the circumstances of the case, indicate that the t-shirt had been authorised and approved by Rihanna, many of her fans regard her endorsement as important for she is their style icon, and would buy the t-shirt thinking she had approved an authorised it," he added.

Meanwhile, fans are now keen to know whether Rihanna celebrate her Topshop victory with rumored beau Leonardo DiCaprio.

The singer and "Wolf of Wallstreet" actor sparked dating rumors after being spotted together at the Playboy Mansion. Reports are circulating that Drake's former girlfriend might soon bring the "Titanic" actor to Barbados in order to meet her family.

"Rihanna doesn't bring a guy home unless she really likes him," divulged one source to In Touch Weekly. "This is a sign she adores him."
