Pierce Brosnan Considers 'James Bond' Picks Idris Elba And Colin Salmon, Former 007 Praises 'Skyfall' Actor Daniel Craig [PHOTO]

Former 007 star Pierce Brosnan has recently weighed in on popular picks for the next James Bond, endorsing two black actors for the coveted super spy role. In an interview with the U.K. magazine "Radio Times," Brosnan agreed that "Luther" actor Idris Elba and "Resident Evil: Retribution" actor Colin Salmon are good frontrunners.

According to the Daily Mail, Brosnan played Bond four times between 1995 and 2002 before being replaced by the younger Daniel Craig. Because of his extensive knowledge of the role, it makes perfect sense that he would have a good eye for potential successors. When asked whether Elba would make a good James Bond, Brosnan replied, "Yeah, he would, actually... Colin Salmon, also."

Elba has already made a splash in the media by being a strong candidate for the first black James Bond in history. Kanye West has given Elba high praise, stating, "I know Idris a little bit and he is a big talent. The movies he has been making are special, and when the role for James Bond comes up it needs to be his...

James Bond is a role made for British actors and you won't find a British actor who has the talent of Idris. To be honest you won't find many anywhere who have his talent. Artists should be visionaries. A black James Bond would be visionary no doubt. Something that 30 years ago would have seemed crazy should now be something that is a real possibility."

On the other hand, Salmon is also a good candidate as he has a lot of experience playing the role of a spy. According to E Online, the 52-year-old British actor has appeared on shows such as "Arrow" and the spy series "24: Live Another Day." He has also starred in Bond movies before - he played an MI6 aide and ally alongside Brosnan's Bond in the '90s movies "Tomorrow Never Dies," "The World Is Not Enough," and the 2002 film "Die Another Day."

But before we get ahead of ourselves, let's not forget the current James Bond, Daniel Craig. Brosnan had big praise for the "Skyfall" actor, stating, "Daniel has made his mark gloriously. May the best man get the job and may Daniel bring home the bacon for as long as he wants."
