Leonard Nimoy’s Twitter Funeral: William Shatner Says Radio Show ‘Should Be Ashamed’ Of Reporter’s Comments About Death [NEWS]

William Shatner has responded to criticisms condemning him for missing Leonard Nimoy's recent funeral via Twitter, offering memories of their friendship and time working together on Star Treck.

"@WOR710 should be ashamed of having @toddschnitt as an employee," Shatner wrote on Twitter, criticizing the reporter for coverage of the funeral.

"I do want to thank everyone for coming here and sharing their memories and celebrating the life of #LeonardNimoy LLAP! MBB" he later wrote on Twitter.

William Shatner's Twitter funeral commemorating Leonard Nimoy's death began on Saturday when the New York Daily News published a Twitter post of its newspaper's upcoming front cover, which featured a story about William Shatner and his former co-worker's death.

The headline called William Shatner "Captain Jerk" and criticized his response to why he was not able to attend Leonard Nimoy's funeral. He instead attended the 58th International Red Cross Ball in Palm Beach, Fla. on Saturday night.

"I chose to honor a commitment I made months ago to appear at a charitable fundraiser. A lot of money was raised. So here I am; tell me off," he Tweeted.

Leonard Nimoy died at age 83.
