‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ Jamie Dornan Insists Chemistry With Dakota Johnson; Actor Claims Wife Gave ‘Full Blessing’ To Do All Three Films

Fans reacted differently to the film adaptation of E.L. James' novel. While some thought the casting was perfect, some believed that it could have been better. "Fifty Shades of Grey" actor Jamie Dornan is aware of such impressions, which eventually prompted him to break his silence.

According to Latino Post, the "Fifty Shades of Grey" actor Jamie Dornan insisted his chemistry with his co-star Dakota Johnson.

"They wouldn't have shot the film with us if there was a chemistry problem... whatever chemistry means. You have to jump through a lot of hoops to get a part like this, and they simply wouldn't have cast us."

Rumors likewise surfaced that the "Once upon a Time" actor would quit the franchise because his wife was becoming jealous. Jamie Dornan contradicted the rumors as per Daily Mail.

He said that he had his wife's full blessing when he signed up for the project, "The idea was that we honour the trilogy and do all three."

He went on to say that his wife even read the scripts in advance and showed her "massive support."

While Jamie Dornan addressed various issues, he opted to remain mum about the reports that he and Dakota Johnson would ask for a paycheck raise.

For the first film, Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson received $250,000 each. For the sequel "Fifty Shades Darker," the two are allegedly asking for $40 million each. To date, the film has already earned a box office gross of $528 million under a $40 million budget.

It can be remembered that stars like Jennifer Lawrence ("The Hunger Games") and Daniel Radcliffe ("Harry Potter") started with small paychecks too. With the success of the franchise films, they were were able to get staggering increases in their salaries.

However, a piece from Forbes magazine suggested that the raise might be questionable as the audience might not have felt attachment to the stars who played Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey.

"They deserve a big raise in terms of their artistic contributions and for the sake of maintaining continuity over the next two films. But strictly in terms of putting butts in the seats, they are sadly expendable," read the article.
