Scientology Documentary HBO Release: Controversial Expose Reveals Tom Cruise Wiretapped Ex Wife Nicole Kidman's Phone! Scientology's Reps Slams Interviewees As Psychopaths And Wife Beaters!

The newest documentary from HBO has set one of its most staggering numbers to date.

"Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief" is the cable network's latest offering. This documentary which revolves around revelations about the Church of Scientology, premiered last Sunday, March 29, and 1.65 million viewers tuned in.

It will be recalled that the Scientology documentary from HBO was first released at the Sundance Film Festival this January. The cable network prepared well for every possible legal action from the church that is known for taking things to court at the slightest provocation. It is reported that HBO hired 160 lawyers for the film. Such was the buzz surrounding the explosive exposes from "Going Clear" that it quickly became the most popular premiere at Sundance.

Director Alex Gibney's explosive HBO documentary became the most watched show on the network since Spike Lee's Hurricane Katrina docu, "When the Levees Broke," which was shown in 2006. Although it garnered impressive numbers, Beyonce's concert special "Beyonce: Life Is But A Dream" is still in the top spot with 1.8 million viewers on its premiere telecast.

"Going Clear" is based on the book of the same title by Lawrence Wright, which won the Pulitzer Prize. Among the shocking revelations that were unleashed when the Scientology documentary from HBO was shown was the information regarding Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. "Going Clear" alleges that Cruise had his ex-wife's phone conversations tapped.

In its defense, the church of Scientology has written a letter to The Hollywood Reporter issuing counter statements on the claims made by "Going Clear." "By our calculation, the film on average includes at least one major error every two minutes," the letter reads. The letter further attacks the character of each of the people interviewed on Scientology documentary from HBO. The church claims that one is a violent  "a wife beater, one as a violent psychopath and yet another as a home wrecker."
