'Allegiant' Author Veronica Roth Feels Strongly About Theo James' On-Screen Love Shailene Woodley's Death In Upcoming Movie; Actress On Board!

"Allegiant" author Veronica Roth believes that Shailene Woodley's character, Tris, must die. Seeing her books on the big screen-and despite fans' petition to change the ending-didn't dissuade that conviction about Theo James' on-screen love's fate.

In an interview with Vulture, Veronica Roth was asked if she's willing to change the ending where Tris will die in "Allegiant."

"I talked to Shailene [Woodley] about how she reacted to the ending, and she really enjoyed the way that it ended," the 26-year-old writer said. "I don't know. I wrote Allegiant that way because I thought that was the way it needed to be told, and so I feel very strongly about it, obviously."

" I know people feel strongly about it, too, and that's fine. They're allowed to feel however they want about it. I haven't yet seen how they're going to end it. But I don't think they'll do two endings. I don't think anyone's ever done that! Not like "Choose Your Own Story"-style!"

But for fans, the two-part "Allegiant" movies could still have another ending where Shailene Woodley's Tris will survive and live happily ever after with Four, played by Theo James.

It's not the first time the movie screenwriters changed a few things, such as the box, for example.

However, Veronica Roth seems satisfied with the writers' decision to introduce the box, who can only be unlocked by somebody who is 100% Divergent.

In a Tumblr post, Veronica Roth praised the "Insurgent" movie, and the performances of Shailene Woodley and Theo James.

"Insurgent is great- and fun to watch. It is a tense, action-packed adventure of a movie. At certain points, my muscles were so clenched I felt like I had just done a series of push-ups. When I left, I immediately wanted to go back in and see it again," said the "Allegiant" author.

Veronica Roth also claimed that the changes are necessary because the book has a very complicated plot. Reportedly, translating the "Allegiant" plot into a screen would make it very confusing for both Shailene Woodley and Theo James to navigate their characters.
